Terms of Use

Last updated: 30 June 2026

These Terms govern your use of Jot, a macOS app provided by Arun Brahma ("we", "us"). By downloading, activating, or using Jot, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Your purchase is sold to you by Polar Software Inc. as Merchant of Record, so the sale itself is also subject to Polar's terms. These Terms cover your license to use the app.

Who can buy

You must be old enough to enter a binding contract where you live (generally 18, or your local age of majority). If you buy on behalf of an organization, you confirm you're authorized to accept these Terms for it.

License

Buying Jot grants you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on up to three Macs you own or control. The license is delivered as a key you activate inside the app. You may not resell, redistribute, or share your key.

One-time purchase & updates

Jot is a one-time purchase. It includes free updates within the same major version (1.x). Future major versions may be offered as a separate purchase.

Refunds and right of withdrawal

All sales are final and purchases are non-refundable; see our Refund Policy for details. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Because Jot is digital content delivered immediately, by completing your purchase and getting instant access to your license key you expressly ask us to begin supply right away and acknowledge that you lose the 14-day right of withdrawal once delivery starts. Polar records this at checkout. Nothing here removes mandatory consumer rights you may have under your local law.

Acceptable use

Don't attempt to circumvent licensing, reverse-engineer the app to defeat activation, or use it unlawfully.

Warranty and liability

Jot is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Your captures are stored locally, so keep your own backups of anything important.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to Jot is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the current version here with a new "last updated" date; significant changes take effect when posted, and continuing to use Jot means you accept them.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka have jurisdiction over disputes about your license to use the app. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory laws in your country of residence, where you may also be able to bring proceedings.

Severability

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
